The Glancetron 2009 offers an affordable introduction to barcode reading. The handy touch scanner is simply placed on the barcode. After pressing the trigger button on the underside, the scanner automatically decodes the information contained in the code and transmits it to the host. With a reading width of 80 mm, the scanner reads all common barcodes, e.g. EAN codes, PZN, ISBN, etc.

The scanner is available in three connection types: Keyboard switch, USB and serial connection. With the keyboard switch version, you simply connect the device between the PC and the keyboard. It then transfers all read data unchanged to the PC's keyboard interface, which appears on the screen as if it had been typed in via the keyboard. The USB connection works in a similar way: here too, the data appears on the screen exactly where the cursor is located. Both variants therefore work immediately on any PC, with any software. If the scanner is connected serially, the software must actively query the RS232 interface and then process the data internally.

To ensure that the 2009 delivers optimum results under all conditions, you can easily adapt it to a wide variety of environments using the configuration manual supplied. Configuration is child's play and requires no programming knowledge. To select the various options, simply read in the corresponding programmable codes with the scanner. In this way, you can, for example, switch certain barcode types on or off, set RS232 parameters and adapt the scanner to different languages.
