Description
Magicard Prima 8
The Prima 8 is FIPS 201 certified for the personalization of U.S. government ID cards and uses retransfer printing technology to produce high-quality photo cards quickly and in large quantities that are comparable to offset printing.
Photo quality in high volumes
The Magicard Prima 8 offers a reliable, robust solution for instant output and lamination in a compact package. Using the retransfer printing process, images are first printed onto a thin film and then heat transferred to the card surface. This creates a high-resolution, glossy image that is printed directly over the edge of the card.
Security
A special dye sublimation ultraviolet (UV) ribbon can be used with the Prima 8 to print invisible photos, logos, text or symbols when issuing high security cards. The UV ink cannot be seen with the naked eye, but is only visible with a UV light source. This special YMCK UV ribbon offers an affordable yet highly secure feature to reduce vulnerability to counterfeiting.
Electronic security
The Magicard Prima 8 can be fitted with a range of card encoding devices to write secure electronic data onto cards as they are issued. Smart card encoding options include contact chip, MIFARE®, DESFire® and iClass®. Special high-security encoders, such as EMV-approved devices, can also be used for inline personalization of payment cards. The Prima 8 can also be supplied with a built-in magnetic stripe encoder.
